Dear Prospective Member,
Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Texas at Austin.
Whether you are on your way to Austin at the beginning of the fall semester, or you are already a UT student, I strongly encourage you to participate in Fraternity Recruitment. You will have the unique opportunity to meet many people from twenty-three on campus fraternities, and be able to choose the Greek letters that will last you the rest of your life. Joining a fraternity is a great way to make a big university smaller and help you adjust quickly to new surroundings.
I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you a little to Delta Sigma Phi. Delta Sig was founded in 1899, the very first national fraternity to accept people of all religious and ethnic backgrounds. Our chapter at the University of Texas was established in 1907, making it the second oldest and proudest active chapter of Delta Sigma Phi. During the school year, the chapter holds several social activities such as Night on the Nile during Roundup Weekend, our Carnation and Sailor's formals, TX/OU weekend, and much more. Also, the chapter participates in numerous community service and philanthropic events benefiting the March of Dimes.
The two main reasons that college freshmen don't join fraternities are: 1) they fear they'll be hazed; and 2) they're afraid their grades will suffer. First and foremost, Delta Sigma Phi does not tolerate hazing of any kind, nationally or locally. Secondly, Delta Sigma Phi ranks above the all men's and all fraternity grade point averages at the University of Texas, last semester posting a cumulative 3.0 among its members.
We strongly encourage you to come by the house, meet the guys, and to find out what Delta Sig is really all about. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Recruitment Captains whose contact information is located on this website.
What is "Rush"? Rush is the traditional term used by fraternities to describe the recruitment of new members.
Why go Greek? At a campus of over 50,000 students, finding your niche can be difficult. Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity is a fantastic way to establish a life-long group of friends, and begin your time at the University of Texas. Delta Sigma Phi offers many benefits in the way of academics, social life, athletics, and service to the university and the community. Delta Sig is always looking for quality men to add to our brotherhood and uphold the ideals and principles upon which this fraternity was founded over a century ago.
How do I rush? Simply submit your information through the form on the left, and you're all set. All registered members of rush are welcome to attend the events listed. If you have not yet signed up for rush, we strongly encourage you to do so.
If you have any other questions regarding rush and Delta Sigma Phi, please contact our recruitment chairman:
